Just a fifteen minute drive from the hustle and bustle of the Mediterranean coastline is the beautiful white-washed village of Benahavis, nested in the Andalucian mountainside. More traditionally Spanish than the coastal towns, Benahavís is well known as the “Dining Room of the Costa del Sol”, famed for its high quality restaurants. There are also a total of nine golf courses surrounding the town.

Benahavís provides more beautiful nature than its complementing coastal towns, the village is surrounded by protected parkland offering stunning landscapes.

The prestigious community of La Zagaleta is located within the Benahavis municipality. The urbanisation offers a combination of luxury villas and palatial estates complemented by its famous Country Club, contributing to Benahavis’ status as the richest municipality per capita in Andalucía.

Benahavis also offers a rich history dating back to the 11th Century, when it was home to the Arabs. Its strategic location in the mountainside, with views of the coastline and the sea allowed for the Arabs to see when pirates and conquerors were approaching their settlement. The name Benahavís means “Son of Havis” in Arabic, deriving from the Moorish prince, Havis, who ruled the area during the Arab settlement.
